Samantha (Sam) grew up in a sleepy little town in northwest Ohio. She realized early on her desire for a career in caregiving and solidified it at the age of 8 when she declared in a poem composed for her Girl Scout Troop titled “I Want to be a Nurse.” Since this early proclamation she has not wavered in pursuing a career in healthcare.
Her undergraduate and graduate education was in the greater Cleaveland area. She attended John Carroll University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology, and then went on to pursue a Masters of Science (MS) in Nursing and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner/Family Nurse Practitioner (PNP/FNP) credentials at Case Western Reserve University. Her studies included clinical experience at both Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic. Those experiences fueled her love of pediatrics.
After graduation, she blended her desire for travel and adventure with her interest in Pediatrics. She moved west as a travelling nurse in pediatrics at Lucille Packard Medical Center at Stanford. After a year of commuting to the South Bay from the Haight Ashbury, she moved on to begin a career at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
Once San Francisco and the Bay Area cast its magic spell, she never travelled on to live in other places. She took on a pediatric nurse practitioner role in the East Bay at Bayside Pediatrics while also working as a nurse at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. She has held several different nursing positions at UCSF over the last 18 years, and now is thrilled to be joining the team at Tamalpais Pediatrics, closer to home.
After living in San Francisco for 12 years, Sam, her husband and three young daughters live in San Rafael and are enjoying all that Marin life has to offer. When not running after children in various extracurricular activities, Sam enjoys time at the beach, gardening, cooking, hiking and camping with her family, riding her Peloton, travelling and exploring the area with her recently adopted 3 year old Golden Retriever, Cody. She’s honored to be caring for your children and serving the local community.
