Dr. Branco is originally from Massachusetts and attended Boston University for his undergraduate degree in Psychology and medical school, where he received the Stephen R. Preblud, MD Memorial Award in Pediatrics.
In 1995 he moved to California for his pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Oakland. After residency, he and his wife Nell moved to Shiprock, New Mexico to work for the Indian Health Service on the Navajo Nation. He spent three years there, practicing pediatrics in a rural site in northwestern New Mexico, learning about Navajo culture and health, and enjoying the beauty of the Southwest. In 2001, they returned to the Bay Area and moved to Marin.
Dr. Branco began working at the Marin Community Clinics and spent four years practicing there, caring for uninsured and underinsured residents of Marin County. He also worked for the Pediatric After Hours Clinic and at MarinHealth Medical Center as a Pediatric Hospitalist. In 2005, Dr. Branco joined Tamalpais Pediatrics.
He ihas served as the president of AAP California Chapter 1, the Northern California chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has also been a member of the AAP Committee on Native American Child Health as well as the Committee on Practice and Ambulatory Medicine and many AAP committees and task forces. Dr. Branco was the Pediatric Medical Director and board chair of the Meritage Medical Network and is currently the Marin Primary Care Medical Director for Hill Physicians. He has also continued his work with the Marin Community Clinics as a board member, including two years as board chair.
Dr. Branco is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at UCSF and enjoys teaching medical students here in our office. He also keeps busy giving talks and helping other pediatricians learn about including behavioral and mental health in their practice.
Dr. Branco and his wife have three children and live in Marin. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, traveling and reading. Dr. Branco speaks Portuguese and Spanish and welcomes the opportunity to care for children and families in the language they are most comfortable with.
