Dr. Branco is originally from Massachusetts and attended Boston University for both his undergraduate degree in Psychology as well as medical school, where he received the Stephen R. Preblud, MD Memorial Award in Pediatrics.
In 1995 he moved to California for his pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Oakland. After finishing his residency, he and his wife Nell moved to Shiprock, New Mexico to work for the Indian Health Service on the Navajo Nation. He spent three years there, practicing pediatrics in a rural site in northwestern New Mexico, learning about Navajo culture and health, and enjoying the beauty of the Southwest. In 2001, they returned to the Bay Area and moved to Marin.
Dr. Branco began working at the Marin Community Clinics and spent four years practicing there, caring for uninsured and underinsured residents of Marin County. He has also worked for the Pediatric After Hours Clinic and at MarinHealth Medical Center as a Pediatric Hospitalist. In 2005, Dr. Branco joined Tamalpais Pediatrics. He works in both the Novato and Larkspur offices. He is the immediate past president of AAP California Chapter 1, the local chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and has been a member of the AAP Committee on Native American Child Health. Dr. Branco is the former Pediatric Medical Director and chair of the Meritage Medical Network board. He has also continued his work with the Marin Community Clinics as board chair and a member of the Medical Advisory Committee.
Dr. Branco is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at UCSF. Dr. Branco and his wife have three children and live in Marin. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, traveling and reading. Dr. Branco speaks Portuguese and Spanish and welcomes the opportunity to care for children and families in the language they are most comfortable with.
