Covered California - Still Open for Business

The news last week was full of stories about the federal health insurance exchanges and all of the technical difficulties that uninsured Americans have had signing up for health insurance.  Fortunately, here in California, we have a state run exchange that hasn't run perfectly, but has been more successful than the federal exchange used in states that did not choose to set one up.

Coming Soon: New Mommy Moods: Discussion and Q&A

Starting in November, we are pleased to add another monthly group to help our families with all of the changes and questions that come up after your baby is born.  On Wednesday, November 20 at 12:15 we will have the first meeting of "New Mommy Moods: Discussion and Q&A."

Vote Yes on Measure F - Support Marin General

For all of us who live in the Marin Healthcare District (all of Marin except Novato), there will be an important measure on the ballot this November - Measure F.  We're sure you've seen the signs and posters, gotten the mailers or seen the TV ads.

Regular Bedtimes = Better Behavior

Over the past few weeks, there have been many news stories about the research published in the journal Pediatrics that proves, once again, the importance of regular bedtimes for kids.  This time, researchers showed that regular bedtimes led to better behavior and that children with more erratic bedtimes at ages 3, 5 and 7 had more reported behavioral problems.

Facebook and Your Teen - Check Their Settings

Teens are in a phase of life where friends are everything, and social connections are being made, lost, strengthened, and challenged constantly.  What's different for today's teens is the proliferation of tools and devices that help them stay connected.  The internet is never far away and social media is a constant companion for many teens.

Tamalpais Pediatrics In the News...Again!

Once again, our friends at KQED have done an excellent story on the rising rates of children who are not fully vaccinated because of personal belief exemptions here in Marin.  We are all proud of the fact that our MMR policy is part of this segment which aired last Friday night on the debut of Newsroom on KQED. The New Health Insurance Exchange - Covered California

Today, October 1, 2013 marks the opening day of the health insurance exchanges that were established by the Affordable Care Act (AKA Obamacare).  In California, this exchange is called Covered California and can be found at: www.coveredca.com/.
