Measles in Marin - 2 cases confirmed

We were notified by the Marin County Health Department yesterday that two cases of measles have been confirmed in Marin. Read more about the cases in the Marin IJ article here. Both cases occurred in children who were unvaccinated. These children had been exposed outside of Marin and were not in contact with any children at their school during the period that they could have transmitted the disease.

Disneyland Measles Outbreak Reaches the Bay Area

There has been a great deal of news about the measles outbreak that began at Disneyland in December. This week, we learned of nine cases of measles in three Bay Area counties - click here to read the news article about these cases. Fortunately, there are no cases in Marin yet. Doctors and hospitals all over California, including Tamalpais Pediatrics, are preparing and educating ourselves to recognize and treat any measles patients we might see.

New Patient Education Class - ADD/ADHD

Measles in Disneyland

The California Department of Public Health has put out a Health Advisory about 7 confirmed cases of Measles so far this year in California. All of the cases were in children and adults who had visited Disneyland between December 17th and 20th. Six of the people who were infected were unimmunized, including two infants who were too young to receive the MMR vaccine. There are three additional California residents who are being tested for Measles as well.
