Dr. Erin Heath is a Bay Area native, growing up and attending public schools in Hayward, where her family still lives. She attended Bryn Mawr College, majoring in Cultural Anthropology. Dr. Heath then returned to the Bay Area, getting her medical degree at UCSF. She remained there for residency, and also did a chief residency at the Mount Zion and San Francisco General campuses at UCSF. After completing residency, she joined Tamalpais Pediatrics in 1991, and in 2008, had the pleasure of seeing her first patient from her San Francisco and then Marin practice head off to college.
After spending 20 years in San Francisco, she now lives in San Rafael with her husband and daughter, and has enjoyed shepherding her daughter through San Rafael public schools. She is working on keeping up her Spanish skills with Spanish-speaking patients. Dr. Heath is a past Chair of the Pediatric Department at Marin General Hospital, and an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at UCSF.
